Imagine renting the former estate or the carriage house of a Nobel Prize winning author, enjoying a Greek Revival farmhouse that offers expansive views of the Connecticut River Valley and Mount Monadnock, or relaxing in a cozy Sugarhouse nestled at the edge of an heirloom apple orchard – all surrounded by the historic 571-acre Scott Farm in Dummerston, just minutes from Brattleboro; or staying in a centuries-old Vermont farmhouse on 30 acres in Whitingham, once home to Carthusian monks.

Having authentically restored these five historic properties, The Landmark Trust USA offers them as year-round, short-term vacation rentals. The Dummerston-based properties have access to a clay tennis court and hiking trails, and are within walking distance of the Scott Farm Orchard and Farm Market.  The properties are self-catered, fully furnished and equipped, with Wi-Fi. They include:

In Dummerston, a few miles from downtown Brattleboro:

Rudyard Kipling’s home, Naulakha– 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, sleeps up to 8.

Kipling Carriage House– 2 bedrooms, full bath, sleeps up to 4

Dutton Farmhouse– 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, sleeps up to 8

Sugarhouse on Scott Farm– 1 bedroom and full bath, sleeps up to 2 guests, and up to 2 dogs!

In Whitingham:

Amos Brown House– 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, sleeps up to 6, and up to 2 dogs. Located on VAST Corridor 8A.
