Otherland Hotel

Otherland is a 20-unit boutique hotel on 40 acres along the West River in Newfane, one of Vermont’s most photographed villages. Newfane is the shire town of Windham County, with a white-columned courthouse, a historic church and a village green that looks much as it did in the 1800s. It feels a world away, yet it’s only 20 minutes up Route 30 from downtown Brattleboro.

Otherland’s calm, Scandinavian-inspired design brings simple, warm rooms made for slowing down, set against meadow, forest and river. Guests spend their days by the water, on the trails, or wandering Newfane’s village center and the farms and galleries of Windham County. In the evenings they come back to the wood-fired sauna. In winter, Otherland is an easy base between Mount Snow and Stratton, with the sauna waiting after a day on the slopes.

Choose from king, double and accessible rooms, or book the five-bedroom house for families and groups. Dogs are welcome. Otherland also hosts wedding guests and group stays for celebrations at venues across southern Vermont.
